Colne crash driver was over the limit

A DRINK-driver who hit another car reversed as if he was going to pull away, Burnley magistrates heard.

John Barry Duke, 45, had ‘nudged’ the other vehicle from behind at traffic lights. A member of the public reached in and removed his keys and it was noticed his breath smelled of alcohol.

Duke failed a roadside breath test and when he later gave a sample at the police station, it showed 76 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35, the court was told.

The jobless defendant, of Alkincoats Road, Colne, admitted driving with excess alcohol, on Hebrew Road, Burnley, on September 11. He was fined £110, with a £15 victim surcharge and £60 costs and banned for 18 months.
