Weather bonus for Pendle Walking Festival

LAST week’s Pendle Walking Festival has been hailed a success by organisers.

The event, which featured more than 75 guided walks, was the ninth time the annual event has been held.

Tom Partridge, Pendle Council’s countryside access officer, said: “The weather certainly helped to make this year’s festival one to remember. Pendle is looking beautiful as we edge into autumn, and the sun shining just added that finishing touch.

“Everyone who came on a walk seemed to have a great time while out in the fresh air getting some exercise and chatting with like-minded people.”

Coun Paul White, who represents tourism in Pendle, said: “It’s been another successful year for the Pendle Walking Festival.

“This is wonderful news for Pendle’s tourism economy, since many of them stayed in the area’s range of tourist accommodation.”

Walkers came from as far afield as Texas and from Pendle’s twin town of Creil in France.
