A BURNLEY schoolgirl bagged a trolley-load of goodies for charity as she helped open a new town centre store.
Siobhan Cooke, 15, dashed around the aisles of the 99p Store in the former Woolworths in Charter Walk in the town centre.
She is a volunteer at the Age UK shop in Burnley and had to grab as many items as possible in 99 seconds.
She was joined by three other volunteers and they managed to scoop up 98 items.
June Heys, the manageress of Burnley’s Age UK store, said: “We’ve been looking forward to the dash.
“They say two heads are better than one, well we thought eight legs would be even better."
The record for the most single items gathered in a 99-second dash is 265 from the Southampton store in 2009, but the average is 81 items.
99p Stores boss Hussein Lalani was so impressed he donated £250 vouchers to the team.
He said: “We are delighted to be coming to Burnley.
“What we offer are branded everyday essentials like washing-up liquid, toothpaste, tea and coffee at a half and a third of the price of the long-established high street stores.”
