BIG news in the Internet community recently has been about recent Government legislation which is going through Parliament which will give various bodies the right to rifle through your emails, download your databases and generally snoop around your hard disks.
I don't know too many people in cyberworld who are overjoyed by this prospect; bodies such as Liberty, STAND, the FIPR (Foundation for Information Policy Research) and even the Data Protection Registrar have expressed some serious concerns.
Check out the following websites for more information: www.dataprotection.gov.uk for the Data Protection angle; www.fipr.org and www.liberty-human-rights.org.uk for the public liberty side of things; www.homeoffice.gov.uk will give you the "official" version.
