THE promotion-winning Clarets will be honoured for clinching a place in Division One when they receive a trophy from the Nationwide League prior to a Turf Moor curtain-raiser against Newcastle United.

Burnley are expected to be awarded a silver salver to mark their promotion along with medals for the players.

And the presentation is set to take place when the Clarets play their first home pre-season game against Bobby Robson's side on Monday, July 31.

Burnley are due to face further Premiership opposition when Manchester City also visit Turf Moor and boss Stan Ternent may fit in one further warm-up fixture on top of the Isle of Man tournament before the First Division campaign kicks-off on August 12.

"I'm grateful to Bobby for sending a side and I'm sure Joe Royle will spend a bit of money so there'll be some good players coming and they will be two fantastic games for us," said Ternent.
