CATHOLICS in East Lancashire have been invited to take part in The Global Carnival.

The event is part of the Catholic Agency For Overseas Development's Jubilee celebrations, and CAFOD is inviting parishes, schools and families to take part.

The event which will attract thousands, will take place at Wavertree Park, Wellington Road, Liverpool on Saturday June 24 from 11am to 5pm.

Activities will include mural painting, prayer and liturgy, crafts from around the world, market stalls, dance workshops and children's activities.

Speakers with experience of global issues include, Bishop Taban from Sudan who will speak about refugees and conflict and Tun Channareth, a Cambodian, who will talk about land mines.
