NICK Dougherty has been named in the England team for the biennial international with France at Charts Hill in Kent next week.

The 17-year-old Shaw Hill ace is one of six new caps in the side and his selection is a fitting reward for a remarkable 12 months.

Last summer, Dougherty captained England Boys to the World Junior Team title and the European Boys Team championship, as well as being crowned the individual World Boys champion.

But this will be his first taste of senior international golf and it marks another major chapter in his astonishing success story.

The former QEGS pupil spent most of the winter in America where he recieved one-to-one tuition with Nick Faldo.

And, after representing England, he will jet out to the States again next month for a three-day coaching session with American golfing legend Sam Snead.
