NEWLY qualified biker Michaela Fogarty went full throttle on two wheels to support today's national Ride To Work Day.

The wife of four times world superbike champion Carl Fogarty and shareholder at Blackburn-based CCM Motorcycles Limited made the most of her new skill after recently passing her test to take part in the campaign.

She left her car behind for the day when she went to work at the motorcycle manufacturer's base in Lions Drive, Shadsworth Business Park.

The day aims to highlight problems of traffic congestion in towns and cities.

Michaela said: "CCM gives its full support to the Ride to Work Day. Many of our customers have switched from cars to motorcycles because they are simply much more convenient, just as much fun, incredibly stylish and can help ease traffic congestion.

"I think its interesting that nearly 16,000 women took their motorcycle test in 1999 compared to 9,700 in 1993. I was delighted to pass mine."
