BLACKBURN Road Runners are extending an invitation to all athletes to attend a talk by Dennis Quinlan, Senior GB and UK Athletics Coach in Fell and Mountain Running.

Quinlan has coached athletes of the highest calibre including Richard Neurerker and Sarah Rowell.

His talk will be aimed at all standards and ages and will include fundamentals of fell running training, cross training, speed work, nutrition, strength and conditioning, injury prevention and the effects of age.

It will be held at St Peter's Club, Mill Hill, on Wednesday, June 20 (7.30pm).

He turned up again on the right night and this time finished a creditable sixth, the leading Chorley man, and second from our area after Clayton's Lee Passco in fourth.

Wrekin's Paul Muller was the winner, while Vanessa Peacock was first lady.

Their best result came in the 4x400m relay where Kirsti Wilkinson, Laura Finucane, Vicky Haydock and Fiona Corrigan were third in 4:04.9 secs. Trio are in form Three Pendle athletes who go to school over the border competed in the North Yorkshire Schools Championships at York.

Ben Rusius won the junior boys 1500m in 4:40.1 seconds, while older brothers James and Chris each won top three placings too. James was third in the intermediate 1500m and Chris second in the senior 800m. Olympics event
