IT may not be the biggest club in the Bury District Golf Association, but Lowes Park certainly has it's share of winners.

The friendly, 9-hole club that consists of 350 members, now boasts both the BDGA men's champion and the newly installed BDGA junior title winner.

St Gabriels High School pupil Daniel Thornton clinched the junior title at Rossendale last week and currently plays off a handicap of nine. He plays for the club's junior team and also represents the Bury Association junior squad.

Daniel is now hoping to reduce his handicap in line with his two brothers, Mark - who plays off scratch - and Matthew who is a three handicapper.

Meanwhile Robert Main - a former winner of the junior championship himself - is gearing up to defend his BDGA men's crown at Harwood on Sunday, June 24.

With a handicap of one, Robert is a regular member of the club's team and also turns out for the BDGA in representative fixtures.

Nicknamed "WKD" by clubmates, Robert has high hopes to make it a dream double for Lowes Park and no doubt will look to celebrate with a few bottles of the alcopop drink that he shares his nickname with!
