BERNARD Manning's charity work has taken him all over the country during his career, from Scotland in the north to Cornwall in the south.

To honour his charity work, Radcliffe Borough Football Club have decided to establish "The Bernard Manning Charity Golf Classic" which is to be an annual event.

Each year a new charity will benefit from the event, along with Radcliffe Borough Football Club, of which Bernard is president. This year's charity will be The Friends of Muscular Dystrophy, who will be represented by Sir Alex Ferguson from Manchester United.

The event will be held at the Worsley Marriott Country House Hotel in Worsley, where the facilities are among the best in the country, and will be staged on Tuesday, July 10.

Celebrities from both the sport and entertainment world have been invited to take part, along with companies and local businesses. The format for the day will consist of the golf tournament, with teams of four playing throughout the day, and the evening's Gala Dinner, starting at 8pm.

The evening will consist of a three-course meal and presentation of awards for the winners of the golf tournament.

The evening's entertainment will be provided by Roger DeCourcy and Nookie Bear, Frank Carson and, of course, Bernard Manning himself.

The cost per team of four is £500 plus VAT, which includes the golf and the evening's meal and entertainment, along with full use of the Marriott's leisure facilities.

Anyone wishing to book a table for the evening only may do so at a cost of £35 per person.

Companies are also invited to become one of the sponsors of the event, or to sponsor the individual tees, or advertise in the event programme.

Costs on all sponsorship and advertising packages, booking forms and general information for the event can be obtained by contacting Barry Sharratt or Bernard Manning Jnr on 0161 724 8346.
