JANETTE Carrodus saw her dream of a perfect wedding come true when she walked down the aisle with fiance Lee Turner.

For brave Janette (24), of Spencer Avenue, Whitefield, the day was a fitting reward for having battled against a debilitating brain tumour that struck her down three years ago.

Janette's boyfriend Lee, of Hall Street, Radcliffe, proposed to her just three months before she became seriously ill.

The following three years became a blur of hospitals, operations and radiotherapy treatment as the young woman fought for her life.

As a result the couple postponed their wedding until last Saturday (June 9) and decided to do things in style to commemorate their big day.

A marriage service conducted by the Rev Richard Bailey was held at Stand Church, Whitefield, and the wedding party made their way to an evening reception at Ramsbottom Civic Hall by diesel train.

Mum Irene (49) said: "It was a brilliant day and very emotional. Janette coped marvellously. She usually gets very tired but I think the adrenalin kicked in and she enjoyed herself throughout."

Irene said there were a few tears on the day and some emotional speeches but Janette was thrilled to see her surgeon Mr West at the reception.

She said: "Janette just threw her arms around him and thanked him for saving her life."
