PLANS to build a multi-million pound Tesco store in Leyland were expected to be revealed at a full council meeting ending months of speculation, writes Jane Willis.

And the supermarket giant are expected to submit even bigger plans than originally thought fuelling speculation that the Leyland store could be one of the company's biggest North West operations.

Although South Ribble Borough Council chiefs refused to give a firm nod on the matter, one councillor confirmed that there was some foundation to the rumours, but added that the issue was still "highly confidential".

The news comes at a time when billboards put up in Southern Towngate state that work on the new store will start in a month's town.
