FYLDE MP Michael Jack, whose constituency covers parts of Preston, may be about to throw his cap into the ring to join the fight for leadership of the Conservative Party.
Following his election success, Mr Jack said: "After Thursday night many people came up to me and suggested I think about running for leadership.
"I told them that I would take it very seriously and think about it.
"There is a certain band-wagon falling behind Mr Portillo, but in due course maybe they will be interested in a more moderate man like me."
Mr Jack's constituency includes Broughton, Cottam, Ingol, Lea, Tanterton, Catforth and Woodplumpton.
Meanwhile our new MPs are preparing to go back to Parliament this week.
