THE task of revamping of Preston's cultural and sport facilities is to be handed over to Steven Jones after he landed the job as the council's new director of regeneration, community and leisure.
Steven, a former assistant director at Knowsley Borough Council, will help oversee the multi-million pound regeneration of the inner urban parts of the town as well as continuing the development of Preston's leisure and cultural services.
He said: "This is a very good time indeed for local government and for Preston in particular.
"Preston is very well placed to take advantage of relevant funding opportunities to enhance it's profile and position in the region.
"I am really looking forward to working in partnership with local people, elected members and key agencies to regenerate parts of the town with the £32 million of Government and European funding already secured by the council."
