LANCASTER City look set for a relatively quiet pre-season build up as they concentrate on continuity for next season.

The club have already brought in striker Andy Whittaker as a direct replacement for Chris Ward, and also hope to add left sided player Kevin Holliday from West Lancashire league outfit Freckleton.

Holliday, 21, trained with City and played in the reserves last season, and boss Tony Hesketh is optimistic that he will become a permanent fixture at Giant Axe.

Hesketh is also looking at couple more players from the lower leagues who are ready to make a name for themselves.

However, the core of next season's squad is set to be the players who have starred this season.

"I have had confirmation that most of the players from last season will be back this season," said the city boss.

Pre-season friendlies start in late July, with games against Preston North End and Birmingham still to be confirmed, as well as ties with Clitheroe, Rossendale, Leigh, Queen of the South and Bolton Wanderers.
