TENNIS chiefs in Darwen will be making a racket at their first ever exhibition in a bid to attract more members to the club.
Bosses at Darwen Tennis Club - the only club now left in the town - are due to launch a historic display at Darwen Library in the hope they can boost flagging membership and help raise more money to finish on-going improvement works.
The Sunnyhurst-based club used to be one of 14 clubs in Darwen and currently has about 40 senior members.
But bosses are growing worried about the gradual decrease in the number of younger people attending over recent years.
On-going refurbishment plans include a new training wall which is due to be complete in the next couple of weeks and the widening and lengthening of the courts.
A new roof costing more than £6,000 was also put on the pavilion which is used to host a number of events.
Visitors to the exhibition, which is due to be set up tomorrow, have been promised an 'ace' time with memorabilia dating back to the 1920s going on show.
