GRAVEYARDS, headstones and inscriptions are a godsend to local historians.
And Leigh-based history officer Tony Ashcroft is preparing to share his interest by hosting two walks -- around the area's cemeteries.
Mr Ashcroft will be hosting a walk round Tyldesley cemetery on June 25 at 10am, and another at Leigh cemetery on August 8.
In between the two tours, he will guiding people around Leigh town centre on July 11.
He said: "In cemeteries, there is a lot of social history with many people who made valuable contributions to the area buried in them.
"I want to raise awareness of that."
