THE biggest parade in Journal-land is set to hit the streets through Boothstown on Sunday.

Boothstown's 15th annual festival aims to be a fabulous family day out, with a full programme of entertainment throughout the afternoon.

The event kicks off at 12.30pm at the Standfield Centre, with the grand parade starting at 1.30pm.

The procession winds through Ellenbrook, across the East Lancs Road, finishing at the Standfield Centre, where, later in the afternoon, the festival queens will be crowned.

Festival committee member Suzanne Price said: "Be sure to find a viewing spot early to avoid disappointment.

"The fun continues at the centre with various craft stalls, sideshows, DJs, refreshments and activities including face painting, slides and a bouncy castle for the kids." lTRAFFIC delays are possible in Boothstown and the surrounding areas on Sunday.

The A580 East Lancs Road, the A572 and A575 will be closed between 1pm and 2.30pm for the parade.
