A RAMSBOTTOM teenager has been killed in a road accident.
Nicholas Hitchen suffered fatal chest injuries when his Vauxhall Nova car span out of control in Crostons Road, Bury, last night.
Firefighters had to cut Nicholas and a male passenger, who is also aged 19-years, from the wrecked vehicle. Both teenagers were taken to Bury General Hospital.
The passenger, also from Ramsbottom, was released after treatment to an arm injury while Nicholas was rushed into the intensive care unit where he died from his injuries shortly after 2am today.
The Nova was being driven towards Bury town centre at 9.50pm when it left the road and smashed into a barrier. No other vehicles were involved.
Traffic police have now launched an appeal for any witnesses to the accident to contact them on 0161 856 8072.
