AS two doors close for Clitheroe this weekend another three have opened.

Glyn Barker is finally set to make his debut a month after signing from Hyde United when the Blues entertain St Helens tomorrow at Shawbridge, while Barrie Hart's return to the squad has been another welcome boost to manager Lee Sculpher.

And lee Cryer has also returned to the club after a short spell with Rosendale United.

However, Neil Spencer and Chris Whittingham both begin a two-week ban.

"We're really pleased that Glyn's able to make his debut at last," Sculpher said.

"He's been with us nearly a month now but has been unfortunate to not play until now because he was cup tied for two games and then the derby with Bacup was postponed.

"But he'll be starting tomorrow and will hopefully produce the goods.

"But it's a blow having Neil and Chris suspended."

John-Paul Fagan is also ruled out with a twisted ankle, Andy Cowking is likely to be sidelined tomorrow with a back injury and Russell Clarke may not figure before commencing a 35-day ban later this month due to knee ligament problems.

On a positive note, Martin Aspinall played his first game for over 14 months last weekend.

Aspinall was a first team regular before sustatining a back and hip injury in October 2002.

He was expected to make a swift return to the side after treatment but suffered complications and, after seeing a host of physios and specialists, the root of the problem has still not been pin-pinted.

But Sculpher said: "He's had quite a lot of treatment and still gets pain but he is prepared to give it a go and see how he gets on."

Sculpher added that, with Clarke and Cowking sidelined, he was hoping to bring Steve Bird back from Rossendale on a month's loan.

Meanwhile, Sculpher kept a close eye on the midweek clash between first placed Mossley and third placed Woodley Sports, which the leaders won 2-1 with a last-minute goal.

"A draw would have been the best result for us so neither of those teams could gain an advantage," he said.
