A FAMILY-run nursery which inspectors deemed ‘outstanding’ in all areas is to be recognised at a special ceremony for top nurseries.
Oftsted inspectors delivered the ‘outstanding’ verdict after visiting Pendle Nursery, in Fountain Street, Barnoldswick, last year.
Staff from the nursery will now be presented with an award by the Ofsted chairman at an exclusive event in London on Friday.
Lisa Beckwith, nursery manager, put the success down to having such ‘excellent’ staff.
She said: “It has taken a lot of hard work to get to this level so it is nice to be recognised.”
Lisa’s family has owned Pendle Nursery for around 40 years.
The 24 staff members include Lisa’s sister, daughter and a number of cousins.
A small number of them will travel to London to attend the awards ceremony at the Guild Hall.
Lisa said: “We’re very proud and a little bit excited as well because it’s nice to meet staff from other outstanding nurseries.”
The nursery caters to 89 children, ranging from newborn babies to 11 year-olds, who attend before and after school.
It recently achieved ‘Leading Practitioner’ status which means other nurseries can visit to pick up tips and advice.
According to Lisa the aim is to continue to set an example in the community.
