THE red carpet beckons tonight for Pendle’s Cheeky Monkeys as they attend the premiere of an all-star British festive film.
Irrepressible Nelson and Colne duo Charlie Dixon and Krista Hyatt star alongside Martin Freeman, from The Office, TV host Alan Carr and screen veteran Pam Ferris in ‘Nativity’, which is set for general release later in the week.
The dance pairing’s first outing on the silver screen, it sees Charlie and Krista, on opposite sides of a storyline pitting rival schools, each vying to stage the perfect Nativity production.
Charlie is pitched in with the ‘posh kids’ while Krista battles alongside their more down-at-heel counterparts, but film insiders say the twosome might not be separated for long.
For Krista and Charlie’s mums, Lisa and Carolyne, the invitation to the premiere is just another example of the hectic life the Pendle youngsters have enjoyed since winning the hearts of the nation on ITV’s Britain's Got Talent.
Lisa said: “We only got the tickets to the premiere a couple of days ago and were told we had to be in Coventry for Monday.
"Then there will be another one in London on Wednesday.
“It's a comedy Nativity with two schools. One is posh and the other normal.
"I don’t want to give too much away about it but the posh school always has the best Nativity and the other school wants to do something about it.”
The film roles were the first chance for 10-year-olds Charlie and Krista, who attend Laneshawbridge Primary and Park Primary schools, respectively, following their taste of fame with Simon Cowell.
Seven weeks were spent on set in Coventry, under the tutelage of hometown director Debbie Isitt, who managed to incorporate several Warwickshire landmarks including the city’s cathedral and medieval quarter, into the finished footage.
Earlier this year the pair, along with Carolyne and Krista’s dad Chris, jetted out to the US to perform on the hit American show Maury Povich’s World’s Most Talented Kids.
Meanwhile, Krista is also to appear in Burnley Pantomime Society’s production of Cinderella at the Mechanics in January.
