A car boot is set to return to Clitheroe, months after it closed down due to being deemed “financially unviable”.

Clitheroe Car Boot Sale closed in January. A statement released by the operators said there were “a number of contributing factors” towards its closure, including reduced footfall.

But new operator, Richard Eccles, is determined to keep the Sunday tradition alive.

Richard said: “The car boot sale closed at the beginning of this year with the previous operators deeming it 'not [financially] viable'.”

The car boot is set to reopen on Sunday, April 28, from 8am. Sellers can book a stall online.

Richard said car boot sales are a great way to declutter your home adding that he is excited about the return of the car boot.

He said: “Car boot sales should be maintained for a number of reasons, it's a great way to declutter your home and sell off a few things you no longer use.

"This prevents them from going to landfill and can make you some money in the process.

“Customers love visiting car boot sales because you never know what you might find there. It is also a great way to spend a few hours on a Sunday morning.

“I'm excited to see the return of Clitheroe Car Boot Sale, it's been a firm favourite since its initial opening back in the late 1980s. It's great to keep this Sunday tradition alive.”

Many customers are excited about the car boot’s return.

One person said: “Hope it works out this time”.

“Yay! Cannot wait,” said another.

Stall prices are reduced for opening Sunday. Small stalls only have to pay £1 and for medium stalls it’s £2. The fee for large stalls and outdoor stalls is £3.

Entry for customers is free for the first two weeks and 50p per person after this.
