Brierfield bird is DIY expert

LILY the speckled thrush proved a real DIY expert when she set up her nest at Brierfield's B&Q store.
Because of the busy sales in the ideal gardening weather, staff cordoned off a stack of lily plants from the rest to stop people from disturbing the bird.
Staff, who have named the bird Lily after the plants where she was found, have been looking after her since she was first spotted 10 days ago.
Sheila Hillary-Bowles, pricing administrator at the store, was the first to see her.
She said: "Lily's had five eggs now. They're only small but we're keeping an eye on them.
"I was moving some lilies when I looked up and spotted her. But she also spotted me and I could see her nest.
"We didn't know whether not to say anything and leave her where she was or put a note there which would attract people to go near the nest.
"In the end we just put a little note up saying please do not disturb.
"One of the girls brought in some meal worms but I think she flies off and gets her own food."
"We haven't had those lillies too long but they are all blooming around her now.
"But she's not the first visitor we've had.
"We had a bird nest in a watering can earlier this year and we always have the geese on the car park."
