Blackpool put on one of the best away performances seen from a Seasiders side in many, many years.

The 5-1 win at Sheffield United in 1977 springs to mind, but many current Pool fans won't remember that!

That may have been in the division above, but this performance was worthy of Championship football.

Andy Morrell belied Coventry's decision to off-load him last summer with four beautifully taken goals, the fourth a sublime, cushioned volley from a long clearance by keeper Hart which dropped over his shoulder onto his left foot.

And Keigan Parker, who caused Swansea problems with his pace and directness, and whose motivation to be part of a successful side is plain to see, chipped in with two great strikes.

It was a great preparation for what lies ahead, playing under pressure in a full, vibrant stadium, in a game both sides were seeking to win to further their promotion hopes.

Twice the Blackpool players lifted themselves after a going a goal down, such is the belief that has been built from winning games.

Neither side achieved their objective on the day, Pool missing out on second place and automatic promotion to Bristol City, who won their final game to ensure Championship football next season.

But, if they can maintain their recent form, it will take a very good performance from one of the other three sides to prevent a spectacular end to his first full season in football management for Simon Grayson.
