A MAN who left a nurse tied up in the boot of a car for 10 days has been jailed for at least eight years.

Twisted Justice Ngema abducted, bound and gagged 38-year-old Magdeline Makola and left her to freeze over Christmas last year.

At the High Court in Glasgow today, Judge Lord Menzies placed 35-year-old Ngema on a life-long restriction order - meaning he will only be freed when the parole board decide it is safe.

Lord Menzies told Ngema he would serve a minimum of eight years before being considered for release.

The judge said: "What you did was to inflict a truly dreadful physical and mental ordeal on a young woman.

"It's quite remarkable that she survived for so long."

Ms Makola of Livingston, West Lothian, was found by police on Boxing Day last year.

This morning, Ngema, 35, pleaded guilty to abducting the nurse, tying her up and placing her in the boot of the car.

After the hearing, Detective Constable Kevin Hulisto read a statement on Ms Makola's behalf.

It said: "When I was taken I did not think I was going to survive. I spent a lot of time praying. I want people to know I feel no anger to Ngema, only pity."

The South African-born nurse was found in in Airdrie, Lanarkshire, more than a week after Ngema abducted her from her home.
