ALMOST £165,000 has been awarded to community groups in East Lancashire through the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards For All programme.

More than £1.2million has been granted to 141 projects in the North West, with £164,231 of it coming to 18 different projects in the region.

The awards range in value from £4,550 to £10,000 with projects ranging from installing disabled access to Clitheroe United Reformed Church to organising breaks for carers in Pendle.

Awarded £9,940, the A2G Group in Blackburn will deliver a series of activities to young disabled adults including arts and crafts, photography and life skills.

The group will also offer volunteers the opportunity to take part in training including first aid and child protection.

Through a £10,000 grant, new gates will be installed at the entrance to Lomeshaye Marsh Local Nature Reserve in Nelson.

Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson said: “To have this kind of continued investment is fantastic news for Pendle’s local charities and voluntary groups.

“There are grants currently available for voluntary groups, charities and social enterprises and I would like to urge all projects and groups around Pendle to get an application in. “This will provide a great boost to the charity and voluntary sector in Pendle.”

Other grants include £9,966 to offer youth work sessions at Blackburn Youth Zone, £8,650 for the Blackburn with Darwen-based Shift Youth Theatre and £9,481 for the Boomtown Basement Records CIC in Blackburn to offer music tuition to unemployed young people.

In Hyndburn, £8,600 has been awarded to the Oswaldtwistle Civic Arts Centre for a women’s project, Burnley Road Subscription Bowling Club in Accrington will use £9,950 to buy a new shelter and Oswaldtwistle Luncheon Club has been awarded £4,550.

Bodies in Motion (Pendle) in Nelson has been given £9,756 to develop a community greenhouse project, while als in Pendle, £9,890 will help deliver new exercise classes at Bradley Primary School, Nelson, and £10,000 has been given to St Joseph’s Community Centre in Barnoldswick for a refurbishment.

Hurst Green Bowling Club will use £9,141 to repair the path and windows and Child Action North West in Whalley has been given £9,928 to provide day trips.

Rossendale’s One Recovery Community Co-operative gets £9,129 for a community cafe, The Free Lane Community Allotment Society will use £10,000 for a compost toilet and Staghills Nursery School in Newchurch has been given £10,000 to develop a forest area.
