A NEW family friendly Hungry Horse pub has opened in Buckshaw Village.

The War Horse, part of the Greene King-owned chain, is at the junction of Buckshaw Avenue and Ordnance Road and will create 70 full and part-time jobs.

Chorley mayor Coun Roy Lees officially opened the pub by cutting a ceremonial ribbon before taking a tour with pub managers Danny and Mandy Crilly.

The pub has been given a contemporary look throughout with leather booth seating areas complete with their own TVs and impressive artwork on the walls relating to Chorley.

One such wall has images and details of the former Royal Ordnance Factory, which once stood on the site of the village and inspired the name of the War Horse.

Mr Crilly said: “We are really excited that the War Horse is finally open.

“The pub looks amazing and we cannot wait for residents to come out to see it.

“We want the War Horse to be the centre of the community, with a welcoming atmosphere and something for everyone to enjoy.”

Danny and Mandy plan to hold a variety of entertainment and events at the pub in future including quiz nights, theatre trips, open mic nights and mum and toddler groups.

Hungry Horse pubs are open seven days a week, serve food until at least 9pm and offer free Wi-Fi.
