VICTIMS of anti-social behaviour in Todmorden will be able to ‘trigger’ an official response if their plight becomes unmanageable, say town hall chiefs.

If townsfolk are suffering enough to lead to three complaints in a six-month period, or a hate crime episode, and they are not satisfied with the police reaction, they can complain.

The case will then be reviewed by Calderdale Community Safety Partnership to determine whether more can be done to address the difficulties.

Coun Marcus Thompson, communities cabinet member, said: “Anti-social behaviour has a huge impact on individuals and on communities, causing fear and distress to those affected.

“The Calderdale Community Trigger is a great way of handing back control to the victims. If they feel that they are not being heard they can now take action, by contacting the council to ask for an anti-social behaviour review.”

Assisting with the review will be council officials, the police, health professionals and social housing providers, so information can be shared between all agencies.

Chief Supt Angela Williams said anti-social behaviour levels were ‘at an all-time low’.
