A HORSE had to be rescued by firefighters after falling in its stable in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Crews from Nelson and Darwen were sent to the property in Woodend Road, Burnley, at about 1.40am, following reports of a horse having fallen and becoming trapped within in its stable.

The complex rescue operation took about around three hours, with a further specialist Rope Access Team from St Anne’s also attending the scene with additional heavy lifting equipment.
A local vet was also on hand to monitor the horse’s wellbeing, and the animal was eventually removed from the stable and assisted to its feet.

A spokesman for the fire service said: “This mutli-agency approach to the incident resulted in a successful outcome.”
