Hughes, of Hapton Street, Padiham, admitted being drunk and disorderly on St James Street, Burnley, on August 30. He was fined £160, with £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
Prosecutor Tracy Yates said police were in the town centre before the match and advised the defendant not to try and get into the game unless he sobered up.
Officers were outside The Swan pub when the defendant came out and was again advised to sober up and leave.
Hughes then walked towards some mounted police and was abusive, in front of a woman and young child, at midday. The defendant, who has seven offences on his record, but nothing since 2011, was arrested.
