THREE sisters have pledged to shave their heads to raise money for breast cancer charities.

Nicola Halsall was diagnosed with breast cancer in July, one day before her 37th birthday.

Despite being caught early, the cancer had already spread to her lymph nodes, and she will shortly be starting a course of chemotherapy.

Nicola, of Blackburn, wanted to find a positive way to help her deal with the situation so she decided to shave her hair off to raise money for Breast Cancer Care.

The charity has already offered support to Nicola by providing her with information about the disease, and also gave her a story book to read to her daughter, called 'Mummy's Lump', which helps to explain her illness and treatment.

In an effort to show sisterly solidarity and to raise even more money for the charity, Nicola’s sisters Jessica, 34, and Annika, 36, have both gladly volunteered to shave their hair off too.

In addition to raising money the sisters are hoping to donate their hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides wigs to child cancer sufferers.

Jessica said: “Nicola decided to show cancer that she won't be beaten down by it and wanted to turn a negative situation into something positive.

“In an effort to show sisterly solidarity; and to hopefully help raise even more money for this great cause, my other sister Annika and I have gladly volunteered to shave our hair off too!”

The sisters will have their heads shaved at Longshaw Club on Saturday at 5pm.

Donations can be made by visiting www.justgiving.com/halsall-sisters, or by texting NAH69£amount to 70070.
