A CURRY evening in aid of a Burnley homeless charity takes place next month.

Emmaus Burnley will host the event at the award-winning USHA restaurant, in Rossendale Road, from 7pm on Monday, September 29.

Peter Pike, president of Emmaus Burnley, said: “We raised more than £1,200 at previous curry evenings. It’s important that we sell as many tickets as we can, and your support is much appreciated.

“We are one of over 20 UK Emmaus communities, part of a secular international movement spanning 36 countries.

“We enable people to move on from homelessness, providing work, training and a home in a supportive environment.

“Residents (known as companions) work full-time collecting, renovating and selling donated furniture and other goods. This allows them to develop skills, rebuild their self-respect and help others in greater need.”

Tickets for the meal are £15, of which half goes to Emmaus.

To purchase tickets or to buy a table for between six and 10 people call Emmaus House on 01282 430860.
