AN 81-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital with a 'serious leg injury' after being struck by a car.
The incident happened on Old Lane in Shawforth when the pedestrian was hit by a car at around 10am on Wednesday, August 27.
The man, who is from Shawforth, was conscious and breathing when he was airlifted to Salford Royal Hospital for surgery on his leg.
An 85-year-old man from Shawforth has been arrested on suspicion of assault and dangerous driving.
It is thought that the man was hit three times by the vehicle.
