THE owners of a pizza takeaway business want to open a unique coffee shop in Burnley.

Plans to convert a unit in Bank Parade, formerly used as bag drop for a Cash for Clothes business, have been submitted to Burnley Council.

The applicants already run Pronto Pizza takeaways in Burnley and Nelson, but now want to branch out and open a town centre cafe.

They plan to serve ethical and organic coffee and food to the people of Burnley.

Applicant Mohebolla Frueh said: “We are now looking to use our experience and expertise to develop a new business idea, which we have been planning for the past few years.

“But we were unable to find an appropriate venue. We are extremely keen to invest our time and resources into this development.

“We are hoping to introduce a new food and coffee experience to Burnley. We will be selling a range of coffees that will be classed as ‘bean to cup’, which will be ethically sourced and locally roasted.

“We will also be offering home cooked food using organic and locally produced ingredients.

“We hope our establishment will provide a nice place to work and train for local people.

“The reason why we are particularly interested in this building is because of its location and its overall character.

“Internally, the ceiling is high and we think by combining the industrial style with a modern twist it will make it feel spacious and light, creating a quirky new design.

“Externally, the building represents the heritage of buildings built in earlier times and also represents historical importance to the town of Burnley.”

The decision on whether to allow the building to be converted is likely to be made by the council when it is scheduled to meet in October.

Ban all animal consumption regardless whether it's halal, kosher or even stunned, that has as little as 5 seconds between each process when it comes to respective pain tolerance.

Totally agree! No animal should be slaughtered regardless of method.

It's the price that determines if the cafe will be a success.

Charge more than £2 a cup and Burnley people won't pay.
Also if the shop is clean and tidy

Check the number of stars for the food hygiene standard as well
Anything less than 5 ...,......avoid.

Look at the number of cafe's which have gone bust in Burnley in recent years.......it may be time to wake up and smell the coffee

I think it's time we stopped the unnecessary ill-treatment of defenceless coffee beans.

So it's coffee only. No sandwiches or cooked food.
If that's the case, I'll admit I made presumptions.
