A MOTORCYCLIST has been airlifted to hospital with serious leg and neck injuries after a crash in Blacko.

The accident involved two motorbikes and a car and happened near on the A682 Gisburn Road, near Todber Caravan Park, at around 11.30am this morning.

Insp Bob Eaton, of Lancashire Police, said that initial investigations suggested one motorbike had clipped the other and both had slid into the path of an oncoming Citroen C1.

A 50-year-old man was airlifted to Royal Blackburn Hospital with serious leg and neck injuries.

A 59-year-old man was knocked unconscious but is not seriously injured and he was taken by an ambulance to Royal Blackburn Hospital for a check-up.

Police said a full investigation into the circumstances of the accident had now been launched.

The fire service, police and ambulance all attended the scene.

The road remains closed between Beverley Road and Howgill Lane, which is affecting traffic between Blacko and Gisburn.
