LANCASHIRE health boss Azhar Ali has defended his ‘NHS record’ in response to recent attacks in the media.

The cabinet member for health at Lancashire County Council, said: “Over recent weeks there have been a few letters questioning my record on the NHS so I would like to take the opportunity to put the record straight.

“I am proud of the work I did in the NHS primarily as a non-executive director and then as chairman of Burnley NHS Trust, as well as currently chairing the Lancashire Health & Wellbeing board.

“When I became chair of Burnley NHS Trust we were rated as a one star hospital trust and under my leadership we went to the highest rating of three stars with a record number of doctors and nurses, huge investment in infrastructure including a new MRI scanner and high staff morale.

“When the new leadership of the East Lancashire NHS Trust decided to close the A&E at Burnley I led the campaign in Pendle holding public meetings and a public march against the closures.

“I also led the campaign and fight to 'save' Pendle Community Hospital from Tory cuts with over 8,000 signatures.”

Coun Ali is also Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Pendle.

For once have to agree Mr Ali has done a great job at Burnley General. The staff and facilities are great as I attend the hospital every other for dialysis. I'm my opinion Burnley General hospital compared to Blackburn is tenfold better. Attacking somebody on the great work he's done is not a nice thing to do because he's standing up for election.

Mr Ali has a tendency of promoting individuals and groups to strengthen his own position, he thinks by providing them funding through his portfolio of health will bank him the votes required to win at the next General Election. He is a typical Asian Politician, mould in the same way as those who have preceded him, trying to "buy" the electorate. The Pendle Labour Party has made a big boo boo by electing Mr Ali as their choice for the next election, he has so many things that he has hidden in his closet from his recent past. A man of very few principles and only looks after number one.
Specific evidence please?

HI Mr ALI
As you are doing such a GOOD job on the N.H.S TRUST
How about doing some thing about the rip off prices
you charge for parking ?
when I have to go and see my family in hospital ?
sort this out and you can add it to your good work file
it should not cost you to see your family when they are ill
this charge is keeping people from visiting there family .
and should be abolished in every hospital in the county.

Mr Ali isn't an Asian Politician, he is an East Lancs Politician. I'm not an Irish Councillor, I am an East Lancs Councillor. Its not good for our local politics to use such language. I am not a member of the Labour Party but I like Azhar Ali and if people have questions for him or things for him to do then they should do so instead of having a go at him.
