Officers are warning the public not to approach the 28-year-old, who was described as white, of muscular build and 6ft tall with short, dark hair and a dark complexion, but to contact them immediately if they know where he is.

Smith also has a missing upper front tooth and tattoos including the name ‘Becky’ on the back of his neck and a dollar sign on his right forearm.

There is a possibility he could have travelled to Manchester and he was last seen leaving East Lancashire in a silver saloon car.

Det Con Rob Sledge, from Blackburn Police, said: “We are carrying out a number of inquiries to try to trace Smith and I am appealing to the public for their help.

“We believe that he may be with associates in the East Manchester area and I would urge anyone who knows where he might be to contact us.”

The second man they want to trace is Lee Haworth, 35, from the Rosehill area of Burnley.

He is wanted for questioning in relation to an assault in January. Police said he often went to the Manchester Road Area of Rosehill and is understood to have access to a blue Audi A3.

He was described as white, of medium build and 6ft 1ins tall, with short, brown hair, brown eyes and a tribal tattoo on his right arm.

Sgt Andy Horne, East division crime and tasking co-ordinator, said: “East division remains committed to make communities safe, and local people can assist with this goal.”
