STUDENTS have been celebrating after graduating from UCLan’s Burnley campus.
More than 1,000 graduates collected their degrees at graduation ceremonies on the Princess Way campus. The centre has seen grades soar with 70 per cent of Honours Degree students achieving firsts or 2:1s. This is well above last year’s national average of 64 per cent.
Among the successful graduates was Artur Kasza, from Nelson, who achieved a 2:1 degree in Computing. He said: “I chose to study at UCLan Burnley because it has a great reputation, and I have really benefited from the individual support provided by all my lecturers.
“I have developed the skills I needed to change my career and am now working as a web developer. I would definitely recommend UCLan Burnley to potential students, I have really enjoyed my time here.”
Amelia Bibby, from Clayton-le-Moors, was celebrating a 2:1 in Theatre and Performance. She said: “The course was perfect for me, it covered all the areas I wanted to study, and has given me the invaluable skills I need to progress in my career as a performer.
“The first class support I received from my tutors was second to none, and combining this with the range of school workshops and activities I undertook, has enabled me to succeed.”
Lee Clough, a foundation degree sports coaching student, celebrated the news that he’d received a distinction on his course.
Higher education and professional studies manager Peter Mounsey said: “I am privileged to be a part of this dedicated and enthusiastic community of lecturers, support staff and students, whose passion and drive to succeed make UCLan Burnley the first class university it is.”
