HEALTH Minister Dan Poulter officially launched the new £4million state-of-the-art Colne Health Centre yesterday.

The Craddock Road centre is owned and managed by NHS Property Services and opened its doors to patients in May, with services from three GP practices moving over from the former site in Market Street.

Mr Poulter, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Health, was joined at the official launch by Kathryn Berry from NHS Property Services, Dr Phil Huxley from East Lancashire CCG, Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson and Coun Azhar Ali, chair of Lancashire’s Health and Wellbeing Board, to celebrate the opening of the Craddock Road facility.

Kathryn Berry, regional director (North) for NHS Property Services, said: “It’s so good to see the new health centre open for patients, visitors and staff.

“This will help the delivery of innovative new services in Colne and it is a huge credit to everyone who has been involved in its planning.

“I’d like to thank Dan Poulter for taking time to visit the centre and helping us to officially mark the opening of Colne Health Centre, which I’m sure will become a valuable asset to the local community.

“The scheme blends functionality with flexibility, giving the practices and other services attractive and fit for purpose facilities in which they can grow further.

“We are really pleased with the finished result and would like to thank everyone who has been part of this exciting new development.” The centre offers a full complement of primary medical community services including podiatry, sexual health and speech and lang-uage.

I have today email Mr Dan Poulter
To see if he can speed up the pharmacy moving
Into the health centre I have also emailed the N.H.S. ENGLAND
Told them of the problem here also email M.P. ANDREW
And our local councillors here?
This is an update for the staff at the pharmacy shop
I will keep on at them till they understand the problem HERE
Time to stop messing about now the bad weather is on its way
And we must get into the health centre NOW and stop having
To run up and down the hill for our pill.
So I hope that one of the above can make thing happen faster her

I could not get to the official opening - not back from London in time.

But it's amusing to see the list of people turning up to get in on the glory, who had very little or nothing at all to do with getting the new Health Centre on this site! But those who did the campaigning and the work know.

What a joke this was! The poor people of Colne are fed up of running down to the new health centre to put there repeat slips in for medicnes then run across to the old health centre for there medication! For gods sake why was the pharmacy not involved in the move in the first place? And as for an offical opening that was a muppets moment ! Even Colne corner doctors haven't gone yet you complete loonies at the NHS ! What are you going to do with the old building once you have evicted the pharmacy from the premises ? Get a grip get real and stop messing with people's lives !!

I say get a grip & stop complaining. Be grateful for what you have got & count your blessings.Agreed this isnt ideal but put things into perspective. We are lucky to live in a country that provides so much to everyone.Try living in a country that relys on the occasional Red Cross for medical help(who happen to do an outstanding job) with so little. So do are NHS do an OUTSTANDING job given their resources, understaffing, underpaid & underfunded system. Not happy, then pay more taxes or go private(which isn't any better) or try living in a poor country. You are asking for perfection & you will not get it in this life or from any country in the world because its being called human.Cut us & we all bleed reguardless of uniform, class, religion, culture, sex etc etc.The majority of people try their upmost to do their best the majority of the time allowing for the occasional off daybwe ALL HAVE from time to time, because guess what its called being human.Instead some people tend to dwell on the negative & critisise never saying thankyou or please & reporting or commenting on the good there is in this world we live in & the millions of good people & the good we do in this world. :)))

And stop running down to LONDON ALL THE TIME your help is needed

The pharmacy is only up the road, they're hardly asking you to run a marathon for your prescriptions are they. Count yourself lucky, in many other countries GPs aren't readily available and many people would be glad to do the 2 minute walk up to the pharmacy!
