A GROUP of primary school pupils recreated the Tour de France with a ride along the Padiham Greenway.

Youngsters at Padiham Green Primary School cycled up and down the idyllic route in the event they had titled the ‘Tour de Greenway’.

The Year 3 and 4 students were headed by headteacher Mark Dixon, and school teacher Jennifer Morton, who cycled on a tandem.

Miss Morton swapped the yellow jersey for a bridal dress to celebrate her impending wedding this summer.

The Year 3 and 4 classes have been learning about the First World War and the Tour de France as part of their studies. They have now learn about local soldiers who were killed in France during the conflict and have decorated the Greenway with information about them.

Youngsters from the lower years at the school lined the route to cheer on their fellow students as they cycled past.
