A BURGLAR who told an elderly pensioner ‘think yourself lucky, next time I will kill you’ after she caught him ransacking her home, is being hunted by police.

Detectives said the brave 85-year-old victim was asleep in her bed when the burglar broke in to her Nelson home and rifled through her belongings.

He searched the downstairs of the woman’s home before wandering into her bedroom and waking her.

Despite being caught in the act, the thief helped himself to the victim’s jewellery including her wedding ring, before threatening ‘think yourself lucky, next time I’ll kill you’.

The victim, who lives in the Little Marsden area, is now being supported by her family.

Police say she was shocked but unhurt by the incident.

Officers investigating the incident are now urging anyone with information about the incident to contact them.

Det Con Nicola Breckell, of Pennine CID, said: “This must have been a terrifying experience for the victim.

“The burglar is described as slim, aged between 20 and 35, 5ft 7ins to 5ft 10ins tall, clean shaven with a pale face and dark eyebrows.

“He was wearing a dark, knee length coat with a hood which was pulled up.

“I would appeal for anyone who has any information to get in touch with us.”

The burglary took place between 1am and 4.15am on Saturday.

As well as jewellery more than £400 of valuable were taken including cash, keys, a digital camera.
