THE second in a series of heritage film nights takes place at Pendle Hippodrome Theatre this weekend.
The Colne venue showed old films of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal as part of a special event last year. One person involved was Martin Cleaver, from Foulridge Canal Cruises.
He has now teamed up with the theatre, in New Market Street, to compile a programme of classic and factual films to be showed this year.
He said: “To project these films in the 100-year-old Edwardian atmosphere of the Hippodrome makes the night even more special.” On Saturday the film ‘The Man in the White Suit’, starring Alec Guinness, will be screened. Some of the footage from the 1951 film was shot in Colne. It will be accompanied by other short documentaries and clips of local interest. Tickets are £5 from the theatre’s website or 01282 863210.
