SATURDAY was the end of the road for Britain’s Got Talent hopeful Andrew Derbyshire after he failed reach the grand final.

Andrew, who won a standing ovation from the judges after belting out Jocelyn Brown’s Somebody Else’s Guy in his audition, thanked all of his supporters on Twitter after the results show on Saturday night.

The Burnley singer wrote: “Thank-you for all your lovely comments and positive support. It means the world.”

Andrew took to the Britain’s Got Talent semi-final live stage but his rendition of Beyonce’s Listen failed to wow the judges.

Alesha Dixon said: “Andrew, you know I love you but I felt like that song was too serious for you. I’m sorry to say it was a little shaky and pitchy in places. I think you can do better than that.”

Amanda Holden said: “I kind of have to agree. Part of the fun of you is your personality. Also there were moments you sounded like Tarzan swinging from vine to vine.”

Simon Cowell said: “You’ve done so many years of singing in pubs and clubs and learned bad habits and by the end it sounded like you were being strangled. I think you’ve blown your chances of getting to the final.”

All was not lost for Andrew though as David Walliams, who gave him a standing ovation, disagreed.

He said: “I absolutely loved it. You sung a Beyonce song – what other man can you imagine carrying off a Beyonce song?”

In the end, viewers’ votes were not enough to carry the 31-year-old to the final and he lost out to vocal group, Jack Pack and salsa dancers Paddy and Nico.

Just 45 acts made it through to the live semi-finals from the thousands who applied.

Andrew made it to the top 50 in 2001 Pop Idol and appeared in the original West End cast of We Will Rock You.
