No further action on alleged sex grooming in Burnley

Burnley and Pendle Citizen: No further action on alleged sex grooming in Burnley No further action on alleged sex grooming in Burnley

NO FURTHER action will be taken against three men arrested as part of an investigation into child sexual exploitation.

Two men and a 16-year-old boy were arrested in Burnley last August in connection with the alleged grooming of a 15-year-old girl.

The men, aged 25 and 19, were held on suspicion of conspiracy to groom a child under 16, while the youth was detained on suspicion of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

The arrests came after police swooped on three separate addresses in the town in early morning raids.

All three were later bailed pending further inquiries.

Lancashire Constabulary has confirmed they will face no further action.

Det Sgt Sheralyn Melton, from the public protection unit, said at the time of the arrests that tackling child sexual exploitation was one of the force’s priorities.

She said: “We will continue to target offenders and help those children who have become or are at risk of becoming victims.”

Anybody with information about child sexual exploitation should call 101.
