Inspectors’ findings compliment leadership team at Holly Grove School
STAFF at a specialist school ‘expertly tackle’ any barriers their pupils might face, Ofsted inspectors have found.
The findings come after the organisation rated Holly Grove School, in Burnley, ‘outstanding’.
Inspectors found the Barden Lane school’s ‘excellent conditions for learning’ ensured that, over time, all pupils made the progress expected, with a high proportion progressing well beyond what was expected for them.
Alan Lemon, lead inspector, said in his report: “The outstanding progress made by pupils in their personal develop-ment, physical develop-ment, and in increasing their capacity for independence underpins the substantial gains they make in lessons.
“These gains, and those in reading, writing and mathematics, prepare pupils extremely well.”
He added the students were given ‘exceptional thorough’ assessments, which were used to effectively plan the work the students are set.
Mr Lemon also complimented the senior leadership team, which includes headteacher Sue Kitto.
He said: “They set high expectations and encour-age ambition.”
