EAST Lancashire stars took to the red carpet for the BAFTAs on Sunday night.

Actress Julie Hesmondhalgh was part of a winning team as Coronation Street scooped best Soap and Continuing Drama.

Bacup’s own Piers Linney was also on the red carpet posing with Dragons' Den stars Kelly Hoppen, Duncan Bannatyne, Peter Jones and Deborah Meaden.

The group were up for best reality show, but lost out to winners Gogglebox.

Accrington actress Julie had been among a group of Corrie stars who had to dash to the TV bash after taking part in a charity run.

Julie, who played character Hayley Cropper for 16 years before leaving the soap in January, took part in the Great Manchester Run before heading to London.

The actress appeared red-faced after forgetting the sun cream and posted a picture on Twitter of her face looking a little scorched. She tweeted: "I believe they call this look BAFTA-ready!"

Corrie stars had taken a quick shower and change before racing to London where the soap was victorious over EastEnders, Holby City and Casualty to be named Best Soap.

The awards were hosted by Graham Norton at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.
