RAIL bosses are reminding commuters that a major shake-up of timetables will take effect from Sunday.

Train services on the Colne to Blackpool South line, and the return journey through Pendle, Burnley, Hyndburn and Blackburn, will be different by around half-an-hour.

Early departures from Colne currently leave at 0541, 0647 and 0748, before running hourly at 51 minutes past the hour, until 2146, 2256 and 2351.

And the return journey usually leaves Blackburn at around 48 minutes past the hour, except for the 1853 and 2307 services.

But this will be changed, from this week, to departures at Colne around 23 minutes past, returning from Blackburn at 27 minutes past.

Meanwhile, the express train through Blackburn, Burnley Manchester Road and Accrington, on the Blackpool North to Leeds and York route will be 14 or 15 minutes later.

The timetable changes have come about as a result of new electric trains being introduced for the Manchester to Preston line through Chorley and Adlington.

The Clitheroe to Manchester services through Blackburn and Darwen sees slight re-timings.
