A centenarian from Nelson celebrated her 100th birthday with a visit from Pendle’s first citizen.
Friends and family helped Rita Rodwell celebrate her special day with a party at Dercliffe Care Home, in Juno Street, where she has been a resident since last May.
The party also saw a visit from Pendle mayor, Coun Smith Benson, as well as entertainment from a local singer.
Michelle Collinge, manager at Dercliffe, said: “Rita is quite chatty and funny. She is well liked at the home.
“Her nephew lives locally and he came along on the day, and some of her family who live in the south also came up.
“She seemed to have a good time and enjoyed the day.”
